Paul “Shanghai” Francis Jaschina Recitation of the Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 27, 2015 followed by a funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church (The Madeleine) in Portland for Paul Jaschina who died August 18, 2015 at age 97. Paul was born November 23, 1917 in Portland where he lived all his life. He was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Church. Paul worked for the WPA (Works Progress Administration) in the early 1930’s and was also a “China Marine” stationed in Shanghai, China. He retired as a longshoreman of ILWU Local #8 after 37 years. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Bielma; granddaughter Carinna (Brett) Vogl, nephews Tim Carney, Jim Camomile, and Bob Frances; nieces Diana Bookwalter and Barbara Hassell. Predeceased by the love of his life of 60 years, wife Viola and daughters Joanne Holland and Dianna Alway. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
