

Pearl E. (Armstrong) Gentry-Wood was born on November 2, 1916 in Little Sioux, Iowa to George and Fannetta Armstrong. She was raised in St. Joseph, Missouri with two siblings, Imogene and Eugene, who were twins. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1934.
Pearl married Raymond E. Gentry after they met in a church. The couple had one daughter, Joyce, and twin boys, Leo and Leroy. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. They were the best of friends. Later in life, pearl married Raymond Wood and they lived happily until Raymond’s passing. Pearl was also blessed with eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Pearl worked primarily as a nurse’s aide during her life. She converted to Catholicism and became a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. In addition to outdoor hobbies, Pearl also enjoyed playing Bunco and Cribbage.
Pearl passed away on January 21, 2012 in Portland, Oregon. She was 95 years young. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Pearl is survived by her children, Leo and Leroy Gentry, and Joyce Bonamigo; step-children, Paul Wood, Frances Sexton and Mary Jane Zuern; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
