

A celebration of life for long time Portland resident Margaret “Peggy” G. Hanson will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 1:00pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Portland. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Peggy was born April 18th, 1930 in Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Edward and Clara Rudiger. She died October 14th, 2010 in Portland at the age of 80.
She was raised and partially educated in Canada, moving to Portland and attending high school while in her late teens. Following her schooling Peggy worked for several companies in Portland in the retail industry. On July 20th, 1956 she married Charles A. Hanson in Idaho. Since her marriage to Charles, Peggy has remained at home as a homemaker. Due to the nature of her husband’s job they have lived in many cities across the United States including Seattle, WA, Fayetteville, TN, Ogden, UT, and Huntsville, AL and in 1966 they moved to Portland which is where they have resided since.
Peggy enjoyed a zest for life and this showed in the many things she took interest in. She was an exceptional oil painter, she loved western history, cooking, baking, and working in her garden and yard, craft work, trips to the ocean as well as an occasional trip to Reno. She kept a spotless home and always offered words of encouragement no matter what the circumstances might be. She also had the ability to persevere in difficult situations. Words that describe her are, giving, organized and tenacity.
She is survived by her sons: Chris Hanson of Colton, OR, Chip Hanson of Portland, OR; Daughter: Peggy Fulcher of Hermiston, OR; Sister: Helen Poe of Portland, OR; (7) grandchildren and (2) great grandchildren.
