Richard Gorman Burd, age 79 passed away at his home on November 7, 2022.

Richard was born on November 22, 1942, in Adrian, Michigan. He was preceded in death by father, Gorman Burd, and mother, Otilia Burd.

In 1945 he moved from Toledo, Ohio to Clearwater Florida, with his parents. He remained in Florida until 1955, at which time Richard and his parents returned to Toledo, Ohio. Richard graduated from DeVilbiss High school in June 1962.

Following his graduation, he joined the United States Airforce on June 22, 1962. Richard did his basic training at Lackland Airforce Base in Texas. In November 1962 following basic training he was transferred to Laon, France where he became an Inventory Management Specialist, assigned to Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. He remained in France until December 1964 when he was transferred back to the United States, to continue his service at Scott AFB in Illinois. After being honorably discharged in June 1968, he moved back to Toledo.

He worked for Chrysler Corporation until moving to Oregon in 1977. After moving to Oregon, he was employed at Boeing Company in Troutdale, Oregon. At Boeing he became a Non-destructive Inspector until he retired in 2007.

Richard is survived by his wife Marilyn Burd; son Richard Burd Jr: son Ryan Burd; daughter Allison Bellis; sister Sandra Renner; five grandchildren, Emerson Burd, Alexandra Burd, Keanna Burd, Avree Bellis and Tillmann Bellis.

A Military Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Willamette National Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow at Lincoln Memorial Park across the road from Willamette National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richards’ memory may be made to the St Jude Children Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
