

Richard attended Benson High School and graduated from Lake Oswego High. He continued his education at Portland State University.
On February 21, 1953, Richard married Harriet Geenty, embarking on a partnership that lasted over 70 years. Together they raised two children, Linda and Patrick and later would cherish time spent with their 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In the spring of 1953, Richard entered the Army spending 2 years serving in Korea during the Korean War. His role involved installing and repairing teletype machines in field headquarters.
After returning stateside, Richard worked for Pacific NW Bell repairing teletype machines. Decades later, he retired as a sales manager from AT&T, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and innovation.
Not only was Richard known for his creativity and inventiveness at work but also at play. Richard enjoyed remote control airplanes, woodworking projects, watercolor painting, landscaping, and solving puzzles of all kinds. He also loved music, singing, coaching Little League, reading, and watching classic movies. He spent his middle years as an avid runner and in later years relished traveling alongside Harriet.
Richard’s memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
