Rita attended Roseburg High School and Centrals High School before continuing her education at Seattle Pacific College. It was during her college years that she met Douglas Peters. The two were married on August 17, 1963, in Seattle, Washington, and built a life together rooted in family and faith.
Rita worked for many years as a school secretary in the North Clackamas School District, a role that suited her love of children and her warm, welcoming nature. She retired in 2003. She was also a faithful member of Clackamas Bible Church.
She found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life: playing the piano, knitting, cross-stitching, cooking, and tending to her garden. She was known for her sparkling eyes and big smile, and she was fun to be around. Rita loved kids and brought warmth and kindness wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Peters; her sons, Keith Peters and Brent Peters; her grandchildren, Caryn Wickman (James), Sydney Peters, Peyton Peters, and Nathan Peters; her brother, Arthur (Roy) Kelstrup (Maureen); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
