

Bob was born September 27, 1918 in Chicago, IL and passed away on February 19, 2011, in Portland, Oregon. He was 92. He was the second of four children of Rudolph and Anna Blaschke. He attended St. Veronica’s Grade School, Lane Tech High School and was attending DePaul University when WWII broke out. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was a Bombardier on a B-24 Liberator. His plane was shot down while bombing the Ploiesti Oil Fields and was interned in a Romanian POW camp for 7 months. He married Nell Howe in January 1943 prior to going overseas. Upon returning home he finished his collage degree graduating from the University of Portland with a degree in Business. Bob worked for General Mills and retired from the Brokerage Firm of Fenwick & Pickett. He and Nell had two boys John A. Blaschke of Portland and R. Todd Blaschke of Boring. His wife and all of his siblings preceded him in death. Bob and Nell enjoyed golf, skiing and spending time at their mountain cabin on Mt. Hood with family and friends. Bob has 4 grandsons and three great grandchildren. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon with internment at Willamette National Cemetery following service. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, and grandfather and will be missed.
