

Born on January 27, 1972, in Florence, South Carolina, Steven lived a life full of service, adventure, and love. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 14 years, earning an Associate Degree in Engineering during his time in the military.
His professional life took him around the world through roles with Nikon, ASML, and the EV Group. He was known for his expertise, dedication, and warm personality.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Hansa Fortner, and daughter Elizabeth of Beaverton, Oregon; and his sons Gage, Daniel, and Reon Fortner of Okinawa, Japan. He is also survived by his father Robert Steven Fortner and stepmother Karlys Fortner of LaPlace, Louisiana; his mother Connie Pennebaker of New Albany, Mississippi; his sister Jodi Fortner Laiche (Robert), nephew Ryan Laiche, and nieces Lauren and Julia Laiche, all of LaPlace, Louisiana; and step-brother Chris Pennebaker (Kristin) of Stafford, Virginia, and their children Wyatt, Mackenzie, and Samantha Pennebaker. He is also survived by many loving family members in Buriram, Thailand.
He was recently preceded in death by his “second father,” Thomas J. (Jeff) Pennebaker.
From a young age, Steven’s faith was important to him—he was baptized at Lakeview Baptist Church in Hartsville, South Carolina. In his free time, he enjoyed the game of golf and spending time with his family, friends, and golfing buddies.
The Fortner family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Kevin and Nora Fox, the EV Group, and the many friends who have offered support and love during this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Beaverton, Oregon, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. A burial will follow at a later date in LaPlace, Louisiana.
