

Robert "Bob" Lewis Post, 83 of Portland passed away surrounded by his family on April 5, 2013. Bob Post was born the only child to Louis and Florence Post of Long Beach, Wash. on Jan. 15, 1930. Though he would leave the Long Beach peninsula soon after graduating in Ilwaco High School, Bob never forgot his small town origins. After serving our country during the Korean War in the Army, Bob attended Lewis and Clark, Olympic Junior College and finished his BA in Education, at Western Washington University. Bob and his first wife, Nancy, raised little Ron and Lynne Marie in the Portland area during their 15 years of marriage. Bob utilized his costal roots to teach his wife and children how to crab, clam and fish. In 1993, Bob met and married the love of his life, Geraldine "Gerry". Together they shared many travel adventures and Bob grew an extended family with Gerry's three daughters and their families. Bob had a long career and many friends with the Tigard School District. He held positions as teacher, the first principal for James Templeton Elementary School and Assistant Superintendent for Personnel. His love of students was well known. He would follow their careers long after graduation. Bob co-founded the Oregon Professional Educator Job Fair which he continued until his retirement in 2003. During his retirement, Bob and Gerry travelled extensively. Bob is survived by his wife, Gerry; children, Ronald Post, Lynne Berkey, Devorah Hallgrimson, Brenda Davis, Julie Heatherington and their spouses. Between them they have nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bob will be laid to rest with full military honors in a private family service at Willamette National Cemetery. A public memorial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Deb Fennell auditorium at Tigard High School, 9000 S.W. Durham Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cancer research.
