Bobbie, as she was known by everyone who met her, was born Roberta Rae Adams on June 29, 1933 in Portland, Oregon to Lawrence and Virginia Adams. In an autobiography she wrote at the ripe old age of 15 or 16, many thoughts focused on family and travel. Included are summer vacations visiting the farms of both of her grandfathers, driving to Idaho to visit friends in 1945, two weeks of fishing with her Auntie Mollie and Uncle Vester on the coast near Taft, and even a train trip to San Francisco with her friend Mary Anne. Her brother John David Adams – “Jack” arrived a year and 10 days after she did on July 8, 1934. They were very close and took care of each other through thick and thin. This pair of siblings named Jack and Bobbie would rival the famous one that came along a few decades later in their devotion to one another. She began school at Joseph Kellogg Elementary, then went on to St. Ignatius School and graduated from Immaculata Academy. Bobbie tried many things, one of which was skydiving with a friend from work. On September 22, 1962 in Portland, Oregon she was married to that friend, Larry A. Hull. They would’ve celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this September. She worked at American Sheet Metal for 16 years and retired as a full charge bookkeeper from Star Metal Fabricators in 1997. Bobbie and Larry’s first house was on Webster Road in Milwaukie. In 1970 they purchased their current home in Gladstone.
Bobbie had many interests in her life but none more important than her family. Whatever her children wanted to do, Bobbie made sure they had the opportunity. Whether it was baseball, playing saxophone, or even swimming lessons, she ensured that her children would have those experiences. One of her passions was painting. Over the years she has painted many oil painting and animation cells. She took First Prize one year at the Chautaugua Art Show for oil paintings. Another passion that she had throughout her life was to travel. She traveled to Europe, Hawaii, on cruise ships to many locations, and quite often would take a two week driving trip in the summer to Disneyland with her family. Bobbie also had a tradition of going to Cannon Beach where Larry’s parents bought some land which is the current location of the family vacation home. Before the house was built, there was a trailer house on the land and every spring Bobbie would take her mother, Ginger, and her two sons to stay for a week. She also would go on a trip after Thanksgiving with her mother, aunt and brother to Reno. Some of her funniest adventures came from this annual trip. Cribbage on Thursdays with Jack and Ginger after she got her hair done was an institution. Bobbie loved life and lived it to the fullest, which was so evident in the warmth and charm of her smile that she shared so often.
Bobbie is survived by her husband Larry A. Hull of Gladstone, Oregon; her children Darren L. Hull and his partner Richard Bowman of Cannon Beach, Oregon; Ryan S.
