

Samoyia LaCheryl Lowe, 34, was born October 24, 1981 in Portland, Oregon, and passed away peacefully in Portland after a long battle with cancer. She was the only child born to Cheryl A. Harris and Curtis T. Lowe.
She grew up in Southeast Portland where she was matriculated through the Multnomah County School District. She fell in love with basketball and played while she attended Ventura Park Elementary School. She moved to Northeast Portland were she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, the millennial Class of 2000. Samoyia worked at various companies throughout the Portland area including ACS, a Xerox Company where she excelled in her job and became a Supervisor. She was a food connoisseur and her passion was cooking and baking. Samoyia was a fashion diva and loved her hair, nails and purses. She also enjoyed poetry, drawing, reading, music and sports. One of her favorite quotes was “When things are not going your way always keep your faith and pray. Only GOD can save the day”.
She was sweet, loyal, positive and easy-going in her soft spoken way, she was a rock to many. She was affectionately nick named “Scorpio Girl” by close friends. Most, if not all of her friendships remained steadfast for over twenty years.
Samoyia is lovingly remembered and survived by her mother, Cheryl A. Harris; her father, Curtis T. Lowe; aunt’s, Diane Harris, Kandyce Harris, Drs. Dana Harris-Echols (Eric), Robin Lowe, (Honorary aunt) Stacy Buchanan; uncle Phillip Harris; cousins, Phyllis Harris, LaShaun Harris, Doris Lowe, Namon Franklin and a host of other relatives including many godchildren; close family friends B (Becca) Lynn Cheatham and Wendy Pruett and a treasure trove of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 1515 NE 106th Avenue, Portland OR 97220.
