

Loving brother, Samuel J. Alvarado passed away peacefully at home in Portland, Oregon on July 25, 2024 at the age of 69 leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and dedication. He was known as Sam or Sammy to his family and many friends. Sam was born in the town of Fort Morgan, Colorado on September 22, 1954 to Abelino and Mary Alvarado.
Sam had an adventurous spirit and left Colorado at a young age. Sam moved to the state of Oregon in the early 70s living in the Eugene area. He moved from Eugene and settled in Portland in the 80’s.
His career included working at Lloyd Athletic Center, Nike, and Norm Thompson and later as caregiver for many wonderful people. He touched the lives of many and many became lifelong friends. Sam was an avid dog lover, and often cared for many four-legged friends on a daily basis.
A favorite quote of his was “The purpose of life is to be loved by as many people as possible among those you want to have love you” by Warren Buffett.
Sam attended Lane Community College in Eugene Oregon, Liberal Arts Program as well. His hobbies included hiking, cycling, swimming, traveling and 50’s art deco collecting.
Sam will be remembered for his warm smile, dimples, his generous heart, and his unwavering integrity.
Sam is survived by his father Abelino, his brothers Phillip, Tim, Steven and Roberto Alvarado; his sisters Nancy and Corina Alvarado. Sam has many nieces and nephews that he adored and was proud of.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother Mary Alvarado.

As for my body – It was never meant to be permanent
As for my soul – it is immortal
Why, then, should I be afraid of anything!
Sam will be dearly missed but never forgotten, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Celebration of life will be held on August 24th followed by gathering of family and friends at Schooner Restaurant in Netarts Bay, OR. at approximately 4:00 p.m.
