

He married Diane Rosenheim in 1981, and together they had two children, Andrew and Kathryn. He passed away peacefully on March 23rd, 2026, in the home he shared with his family for 45 years. Diane preceded him in death in October 2025.
Sidney earned his MD by graduating from the Northwestern University School of Medicine and was trained in Pathology at MD Anderson Hospital. He served in the US Army Medical Corps at Fort Dix from 1968-1970, before becoming a Pathologist and working at Providence Medical Center for over four decades.
Sidney loved to travel and vacation with his family, sharing his knowledge of art and music. Sidney always knew of the newest and best restaurants in Portland and around the world. He was a marathoner and a mountain climber, always up for a new challenge or adventure. He and Diane loved animals and cherished the many pugs they owned over the years.
Sidney is survived by his sister Alice Horn; his stepchildren, Karen Aase, Christopher Altenhofen, and Patrice Altenhofen; and children Andrew Rosenheim and Kathryn Aaberg. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his nieces, Betsy Levick and Patricia Gold; and his nephew, David Horn.
A Celebration of Sidney’s Life will be held on April 18th at 11:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
