He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and had travelled the world by the time he entered college at the University of Texas. He completed medical school and residency at Baylor University. Craig loved being a pediatrician, as he basically considered himself to be one big kid. He was exceptionally dedicated in caring for his patients and families, and was known for being brilliant, funny, compassionate and kind.
Craig is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Catherine, and his three beloved daughters, Kelsey, Sydney and Avery. He is also survived by his parents William Dunn and Nancy Tate, sister Natalie and brother Brian.
Craig will be remembered for many things--his wonderful smile, his sense of humor, his intellect, his ability to remember lyrics to almost any song from the 80s. His steady faith in God was a source of inspiration to the countless people whose lives were touched by his story. Above all, Craig will be remembered for how he handled his journey with cancer with courage, hope, grace, humility and faith. Although he died so young, there is great comfort in knowing the memory of him will continue on through his patients, his friends and family, and those who have been forever changed by him.
A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, August 29 at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk, or to "friendsofcraig", a foundation being created to honor Craig's life as a pediatrician and almost four year survivor of brain cancer. The foundation will directly benefit children with brain tumors. Donations can be made to "friendsofcraig" at any Wells Fargo bank location.
