Suzanne Papworth

Suzanne Elizabeth Partridge Papworth passed away quickly and peacefully in Portland, Oregon on June 27, 2024. She was born March 19, 1934 in Portland, Oregon to Scott Harold Partridge and Jennie Cecelia Hansen Partridge. Suzanne loved telling stories of her happy childhood. She had many friends and loved playing in the neighborhood, putting on shows in her backyard and helping her dad with the Irish Setters he trained as show dogs. She loved to hear her Mom practice her cello for the Portland Symphony at night in the kitchen while she was going to sleep. Suzanne was very active in school and held many social and leadership positions in high school and college. She met Spencer Dean Papworth at Brigham Young University through a mutual friend and got a ride home to Portland from Utah with him. They fell in love and were married in the Salt Lake City Temple and raised their family of six in the Portland area. Suzanne was always a friend to many. She had a kind heart, a quick witted sense of humor and was a gifted writer. She loved writing programs for school, church functions or parties. She was known for her scripts she would write for different Roadshows performed by youth of her church congregation. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership callings and also working in the San Diego temple. For many years she worked as an Office Manager of a Dental Clinic in Portland. After retiring, she moved to California where she lived with her oldest daughter and family for many years. She then moved back to the Portland area to be closer to her other kids and their families. Although a stroke and dementia affected her for many years, she was always pleasant, sweet, kind and quick to smile. She was an angel on earth and now one in heaven. We will miss her smile and beautiful soul.

She is loved, adored and survived by her children, Mark Spencer Papworth of Gresham , Laurie Susan Chalk (Kevin) of San Marcos, California, Craig Allan Papworth of Gresham, Anne Elizabeth Anderson (James) of Sandy and David Michael Papworth of Vancouver. Her handsome son Scott Royle Papworth (Victoria) preceded her in death recently. Also preceding her in death are her grandsons Jesse Papworth, David Spencer Chalk and grand-baby Elizabeth Michelle Anderson. Her other grandchildren are Melissa Chalk, Natalie Chalk Everitt, Emily Chalk, Lauren Anderson Smith, Jaclyn Anderson, Clarke Anderson, Alec Anderson, Spencer Papworth, Cameron Papworth, Claire Papworth, Dominic Papworth and Alison Ferrer. She has 8 great- grandchildren.

There will be a private Graveside service on July 12th, 2024 in Portland. The family expresses deep appreciation and gratitude for the caregivers who have been so good to her through the later years of her life. We appreciate so much all the love of so many family members and friends.
