Sylvia’s greatest gift was bringing people together. She was always kind, generous, devoted, doting, compassionate, bright, glowing, and dressed to a tee. Her warmth and caring will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but she leaves behind a legacy of strong relationships that she helped nurture.
Sylvia was the fourth daughter of Stella and Martin Leiseth. Her sisters Dolores, Lois, and Joanne shared her love of books, learning, and music.
She met Allen Arnold after a gaze across the dance floor. They married and raised daughters Michelle & Betsy with lots of love and laughter. They lived in Idaho, North Carolina, and Wisconsin before returning to Oregon. Each move brought new and lasting friendships. Al died in 1992.
In 1996, she fell in love with and married Dick Frantz. Together they made great friends, traveled, and entertained. Opera, art, and parties known for great food, friends, family, and fun kept them “boppin.”
She dearly loved her granddaughters, Alison and Claire, and played an active role in their everyday life. She cherished her nieces, nephews, and extended family and maintained those important relationships through thoughtful notes, personal visits, and get-togethers for special occasions. She was active, healthy, and energetic until being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in March.
Sylvia truly cherished each and every person she met. She touched people’s lives in ways we’ll never know. We are thankful for all the days we shared.
