Terrence Gregory LeDoux passed away September 22, 2010, at the age of 64. He was born April 15, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA, to Margretta and Gerard Anthony LeDoux and was raised by his mother and step-father, Bob O’Donnell. He attended school in Escondido where he played on the high school football team. He moved to Oregon in 1963 and graduated from Tillamook High School.
During the Vietnam War, Terry served in the US Navy overseas from 1965 through 1969. In 1973, after returning home from duty, he met and married Debra Johnson. During their six year marriage, they had two children that Terry was very proud of.
Terry explored various career possibilities. He went to school to study history and became a substitute teacher, partnered with Paul Johnson to own a little pub called Donkins, drove for a commercial bus line and trained in the Navy to be an air traffic controller. Eventually, he purchased an antique Civil War shoeshine stand and started his own business, “Mr. Shine”. He had stands in eight different locations in downtown Portland. In 2003, he officially hung up his shoeshine rag. He completed his working career with Tri-Met as a city bus driver.
In 2001, after years as a bachelor, he fell in love and married Peggy LeDoux. They bought a house and moved to Vancouver, WA. They spent their free time making home improvements and landscaping their large backyard. Terry enjoyed nothing more than reading, watching movies, swimming in their pool, relaxing in their hot tub, and having family over for bbq’s.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy LeDoux; daughter, Liberty Looney; son, John LeDoux; seven step-children; sisters, Cherie and Rochelle; brothers, Darrel, Frank, Tony and Jeff (O’Donnell); three grandchildren; twenty five step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
