Thelma was 96 years old when she passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in Hillsboro Oregon.
She was born in Honolulu Hawaii to John and Mary Balgas.
She met and began to date Auggie Gonsalves and on December 8, 1945, they both got married.
Thelma was musically gifted. She liked to play and sing music for the Lord. She was also a praise and worship leader.
She liked sewing, crocheting, knitting, and other hobbies that interested her. In addition, she was a really good cook and baker.
She was a kind, patient, and helpful person. She was a loving wife to her husband Auggie. She was also a devoted and loving mother to their daughter Lydia. She was a loving grandmother/great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Auggie Gonsalves, her son Johnathan Alee Gonsalves, and her two great-granddaughters (Kaitlyn and Brook Valentine). She is survived by her daughter Lydia Valentine; three grandsons Bernard, Shane, and Chad Valentine, and one granddaughter Monique Valentine. She has five great-grandchildren; Chanel, Bernard III, Sagelynn, Iain, Kolomona, and three great-great-grandchildren in addition to her siblings and many nieces and nephews.
