Theresa was raised in Ohio, where she met and married Sargent Rollins
F. Christian Sr, in 1950 and of that marriage were 3 sons. As an army
wife Theresa traveled the world with her husband and children until
she moved to Tacoma Washington where she attended Saint Joseph’s
Hospital of Nursing. Soon after Portland, Oregon became her permanent
home.
Theresa worked most of her life as a registered nurse for Dammasch
Hospital until she retired and then spent many years working in home health
nursing. She had a true passion for nursing and was known for caring
for many of her friends and loved ones in there time of need. Theresa
was a loving and caring woman who was always willing to help others.
She was a long time board member of POIC/Rosemary Anderson High School
where she devoted 20 plus years to helping Portland area students.
Theresa was a strong and devout Christian and a dedicated member of
Bethel AME Church in Portland OR where she served as a member of the
Alter Guild, Steward Board, Cathedral Choir and Woman’s Missionary
Society for many years.
Theresa was a devoted mother & grandmother. She spent her last days in
the loving care of her grandchildren until her passing March 11, 2016
Theresa is preceded in death by her parents Lillian and James and
siblings Vanassa McElroy, Virgil Hill
She leaves to celebrate her life and homegoing her 3 sons, Charles
Christian, Rollins (Kim) Christian Jr. and Ronald D. Christian and a
host of Sisters and brothers
Virginia(Raphl) Groom, Clarence, Lewis Earl, Samuel, James Wesley(babe),
Laurence Wesley(Peach), Carol Stembridge, Charles Wesley, Gene
(ED)Loomis, David Wesley, Richard Wesley.
4 granddaughters Laini (Twian) Champagne, Mandisa Christian, Damala
(Parnell) Badon & Tawana Christian and 4 grandsons Charles Christian
Jr, Ronald Christian Jr, Alijuah Hale and Anthony Daniel. Along with
9 great grandchildren Akyla Randall, Christopher Trotter, Danaya
Smith-Christian, Parnell Badon Jr, Dalonzo Badon, Haydiya Bright,
Emmanuel Champagne, Zariah El, Kenzo Badon and 1 great-great
granddaughter Emyiya
A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
