Theresa Alma Jackels, passed away on August 16th, 2014. She was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada on December 9th, 1927. Her family moved to California when she was 18. She had fond memories of her life in Canada and her French speaking heritage.
She married her husband Leonard Jackels in 1951. He was the brother of her new found friend in California, Shirley Jackels. They both loved dancing and sharing common values. They welcomed five children to their family during their marriage. They were never wealthy but Leonard and Theresa always found ways to put their children first. Theresa was always willing to go without so that her children had their needs met.
Theresa’s life was full of challenges which she faced bravely, with dignity, and without complaint. The loss of her 17 year old son was an extreme hardship in her life. She cared for her dear husband Leonard as he struggled after a heart attack. They were married 40 year; he passed in 1992. She never complained through it all and maintained her sense of humor. She loved reading, dancing and music. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. She beamed with joy in their company.
Theresa will be laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery on August 22nd, 2014. She is survived by her her sister Cecile (Paul) Meichtry, children Glenn (Edna) Jackels, Guy Jackels, Debra (Bob) Stern, and Gary (Donna) Jackels, along with her grandchildren Zeb (April) Stern, Rachel (Travis) Dusenberry, Robert Krewson, and Valerie Coy, and her great grandchildren Bella Dusenberry, Evah Dusenberry, and Joseph Lance.
