Born in Eugene, Oregon to Marie and Roy Paul Nelson, Tracy was the third of four children. She attended South Eugene High School and the University of Oregon, where she majored in journalism.
Tracy moved to Portland and worked as a bookkeeper for Williams and Dame Development for 25 years, and then at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as their bookkeeper and office manager.
Tracy was a great cook, and family and friends turned to her for culinary advice. She could turn any recipe into something special. She had legendary parties and pot lucks when she lived on a houseboat on the Willamette River.
She settled in Beaverton and became an enthusiastic home and pet owner.
Recently, Tracy adopted a 15 year old cat that needed a quiet home to live out his years. She named him Marcus, after the talented Duck's quarterback. Tracy never missed a Duck game.
Friends describe Tracy as kind and generous, and her family will miss her great sense of humor. Once, while flying with her sister, their plane hit some turbulence and began to shake and lose altitude. Her sister looked over at Tracy with concern and said, “If this plane goes down, let’s hold hands”. Tracy took her sister's hand. Smiling, she said, "and let's sing Kumbaya".
Tracy is survived by her mother, Marie Nelson, and siblings: Robin Trotter, Chris Lawrence, Bryan Nelson and their families. No service is planned.
Please share your memories of Tracy.
