Violet Stella Larson

Violet Larson, 85, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. She was born December 19, 1925 in Minot, ND to Steve and Agnes (Vachal) Novachek. Violet was raised in the Stanley, ND area. She attended grade and high school in Ross, ND. Violet loved sharing stories of her girlhood adventures.

Violet married Charlie Fowler in 1945. From that union her first-born, Patrick Charles was born. Violet and Charlie later divorced.

In 1948 Violet and Kenneth Knutson were married. Three children were born of that union: Viki, Kenny and Billie.

While Kenneth was busy building his business, Violet kept busy being a mother and keeping active in her children’s activities as Campfire and Cub Scout leader. She also volunteered at the hospital as a Pink Lady and was a Sunday-School teacher.

Violet was widowed in 1959. In 1965 Violet wed Donald Larson in Williston, ND. Violet and Don spent many happy years traveling the US and visited every state in the union except Alaska.

Violet’s greatest joy was her family and with the birth of each great grandchild, marveled at her ever-expanding family. and never missed an opportunity to brag about “all those babies”.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husbands ,Kenneth Knutson and Donald Larson; granddaughters, Tara Garman and Joanie Knutson; sister, Frances Schubert, and sister-in-law Clara Trana.

Violet is survived by her four children, Patrick (Karen) Fowler and Viki (Jim) Garman of Helena, MT, Kenny Lee (Becky) Knutson of Clackamas Oregon and Billie (Jean) Knutson of Forest Grove Oregon; nine grandchildren, Todd Fowler, Michelle Fowler,

Kory (fiancé Lou Neville) Garman, Scott (Brittany) Knutson, Andy (Deanna) Knutson, Danielle(Josh) Christopherson, Adam (Becky) Knutson, Jacob Knutson & Cole Knutson and 10 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Bernice Jorgenson, Marlyss Larson and Mabel Hysjulien.

Services will be held in Lincoln Funeral Home Portland Oregon at 10:00 a.m. Friday October 7. A reception will follow at New Hope Church in Portland Oregon.
