Mrs. Leona M. Rockefeller

A mass of Christian burial for Leona M. Rockefeller, age 74 of Potsdam, NY will be held on Tuesday, September 15th at 10 am at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Howard Vennette celebrant. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Potsdam, NY. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Monday, September 14th from 4-7pm. She is survived by daughters Tammy (William) Oldenburg, Lisa (James) Schofell, Rebecca (Michael) Wright and Laura Wood and finacee Chris Wright; son Timothy (Pamela) Rockefeller; sister Phyllis (Paul) Schafer; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Rockefeller and a grandson Nicholas Rockefeller.

Leona was born May 12, 1941 in Potsdam, NY to the late Stanley Narrow and Lillian Bonno. She was a 1959 graduate of Potsdam Central School. She was married to Richard Rockefeller on March 9, 1963. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She was very involved in volunteering her time. She taught church school at St. Mary’s, was involved with the Girl Scouts, and was a past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was very proud of her time spent working with the kids at Rose Hill in Massena. She also worked with kids at the Potsdam Elementary School for years. And she worked as a hair dresser also.
