Mrs. Nellie E. Foster, age 89, of West Stockholm, NY passed away at her residence on March 11th while under the care of her family and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15th at noon with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Burial will follow in the spring at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14th from 4-7pm and on Friday from 11am until the service starts at noon. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or to the West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Department.
Nellie is survived by her sons Ceylon M. Jr. (Muriel) Foster, Leo (Suzanne) Foster, Randy (Rita) Foster, Wayne (Brynn) Foster, Steve (Linda) Foster, Gary (Crystal) Foster and Kerry (Kathy) Foster; a daughter Shirley (Milo) Colbert; sisters Florence Rouff, Mary Sherman and Cora Deshaw; brother Willam Wilmont and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Ceylon M. Foster Sr. who passed in 1988; daughters Charlene Foster and Sharon Mitchell; son Joseph Foster; daughter in laws Kandy and Diane Foster; brothers Arthur “Sonny”, Ronnie and Donald Wilmont and a sister Janet Wilmont.
Mrs. Nellie E. Foster was born on March 19, 1929 in Potsdam, NY to the late Arthur Wilmont and Lena Clark. She attended school up in the Joe Indian Pond area. On April 11, 1944 she was married to Ceylon Foster on April 2, 1944 in Central Square, NY. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a few years at the LBSH Housing Development in Winthrop, NY and Arquette’s Store in West Stockholm. She raised a family of 11 children. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, puzzles, playing cards and really enjoyed singing. She also had a love for the outdoors.
