Paul A Steinberg, age 80, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born March 29, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, Paul was a devoted husband, father, and a respected presence to those who knew him. He lived in Potsdam, NY.
A distinguished Professor and Composer at SUNY Potsdam, Paul built a meaningful professional life marked by dedication to his craft and a steady commitment to education and music. His work reflected a thoughtful, accomplished spirit and an enduring respect for the art he loved.
Paul’s personal interests were wide-ranging and deeply enjoyed. He found pleasure in photography, fishing, and music, with a particular appreciation for Jazz—interests that spoke to his attentive, creative nature and the quiet joy he took in both reflection and expression.
He was also involved with ASCAP, supporting the broader community of music and those who create it.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sandra Steinberg; and his sons, David and Ben (Chelsea) Steinberg. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Judith Steinberg; his mother, Ruth Steinberg; and his father, David Steinberg.
