C. H. Herrod

C.H. Herrod, 82, of Prattville, passed away Tuesday August 22, 2017. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM Thursday August 24th at the Prattville First Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Herrod was born in Autauga County on March 1, 1935 to the late Claude and Arrie Herrod. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from AT&T with 47 years of service. For 45 years he served the equine community with Tuff-E-Nuff Boarding Stables, the family business.

Mr. Herrod was loved by all and will always be remembered for his patience, sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone in need. In 2014 he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Nell. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Atchison, Elsis Golson, Kathryn Letson and Claudia Sue Wyatt.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nelda and Donnie Hix of Bronson, FL., Cindy Herrod of Prattville; two sons and a daughter in law, Shayne Herrod of Prattville, Sid and Kellie Herrod of Deatsville; six grandchildren, Stacy Casey, Kacey Powell, Callie Lathan, Sydney Herrod, Kyle Herrod, Garrett Hix; eight great grandchildren, Emma Casey, Laura Ann Casey, Andrew Casey, Anna Powell, Claire Powell, Tucker Powell, Josie Lathan, Nolan Lathan; sisters and brothers, Woodard Myers, Grace Faulkner, Sara Nell Blackburn, Donald Herrod, Imogene Fincannon, M.E. Stevens and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Herrod, Joe Powell, Dustin Casey, Chris Lathan, Chip Powell and Darren Lavin. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pete Walden Sunday School Class.
