Doris R. Rawlinson Durbin

DURBIN, Doris R., 77, a lifelong Autauga County resident, passed away Thursday December 24, 2015. Funeral services were held Saturday December 26th at 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Pastors Richard Lucas and Lance Eiland officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion-Rawlinson Cemetery.

Mrs. Durbin was born January 9, 1938 in Autauga County to the late G.H. Rawlinson and Buther Watts Rawlinson. She was a pre-school teacher with over 20 years of service at Kiddie College in Prattville. During her many years of service she taught countless numbers of children. She was an excellent role model, mentor, wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a 1956 graduate of the Hicks School in Autaugaville and a lifetime member of Mt. Zion. She enjoyed cooking, Bible study and fellowship. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family on a Friday night.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy and Fran Durbin; father and mother in law, W.O. Durbin, Jr. and Donie Durbin; brothers John L. Rawlinson, Hershel Rawlinson; sisters Corrine McKinney, Josie Jones, Ruth Rawlinson; a son in law, Henry “Punk” Barber.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Frank Durbin; daughter Pat Landvik and her husband Brian and daughter Kim Durbin; grandchildren Brandon Barber and his fiancée’ Haley Prescott, Kim Barber (David) Williams; great grandchildren Jake and Paxton Chavers; seven sisters and one brother, Christine Jones, Willodean Deavers, Eva (Bob) Green, Brenda (Jimmy) Hancock, Agnes (Bob) Smith, Margaret (Winston) Edwards, Betty (Ray) Dennis, Pam (Earl) Mims, Phyllis (Jimmy) Edwards; a brother Andy (Fran) Rawlinson; brothers in law and sisters in law Billy and Shirley Durbin, Jimmy and Judy Durbin, Polly and Henry Crenshaw, Jeannie and Billy Sparks, Linda Missildine; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Building and Sanctuary fund, 2279 Hwy 82 West, Prattville, Alabama 36067.
