Dorothy Lavell Jones

Dorothy Lavell Jones, age 92, of Mathews, Alabama formally of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on July 1, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Jones; great grandson, Alex Dooley; parents, JP and Bessie Nobles; and brothers, McDuffie, G.W., Edward, Douglas, and Billy Nobles. She is survived by her children, Dorothy A Barber (Harold), W. Gail Durbin (Gene), and Charles Daniel “Chuck” Jones (Rhonda); grandchildren, Neil Harris (Jennifer), Matthew Harris (Cristain), and Brandy L. Rucker; her great grandchildren, Nathan Jones, Hannah Jones, Kimberlee Harris, Gabe Harris, Aubrye Sands, Ralston Middlebrooks, and Kendall Middlebrooks; and great-great grandchildren, Alexis Sault and Chevy Howell. She is also survived by sister, Luverne Houck (Charlie) age 94 of Florida; brothers, Johnny Nobles (Margie) and Donald Nobles (Rita) of Mississippi. Lavell also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Lavell was a wife for almost fifty-nine years, and a mother and maw-maw for seventy years. She loved her family and loved a pretty yard after a clean house. She loved blue-grass music and was an avid Alabama football fan.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Mracek and his staff at Enhabit Hospice and Enhabit Home Health Care for their wonderful care of Mrs. Jones.

The funeral service for Lavell will be Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ridouts Prattville Chapel with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Coosa River Cemetery, Deatsville, Al. Serving as pallbearers are George and Richard Nobles, DJ Hall, Matthew and Mike Harris, and Steve Barber. Officiating will be Chaplin Bill Tucker and Harold Barber.
