Mrs. Barber was born on December 23, 1938 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Beecham Martin and Bessie Goings Martin. She attended high school in Mt. Herman, Louisiana and was retired from the accounting department of the U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Maxwell AFB after twenty five years of service. She had many interest including traveling, flowers, and gardening but most of all she enjoyed reading, especially the Bible.
She read daily and passed on her joy of reading to her loving granddaughter, Olivia. Helen will always be remembered as a kind person willing to help anyone in need.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her son Richard Barber in 1996. She is survived by her loving husband of over sixty years, Joseph “Joe” Barber of Prattville; her son, Joseph D. Barber of Prattville; a daughter, Teresa Nobles of Millbrook; one granddaughter, Olivia Nobles and a host of nieces and nephews.
