CHAMPION, James “Jimmy” L., 84, passed away Sunday March 5, 2017 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Jimmy was born in Montgomery, Ala. on September 10, 1932, son of the late Yarbrough L. and Claudie B. Champion. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wayne Champion. He is survived by a sister, Peggy Champion (Harold) Boyd of Rome, GA., nephews J. Randall (Lisa) Boyd of Nashville, TN., Richard H. (Lynn) Boyd of Atlanta, GA. and niece Christa B. (Darin) Wright of Florence, Ala., a longtime special and loving friend and caregiver, Aileen Sheridan, her children, Mike Sheridan, daughter Pat (Mike) Pugh all of Prattville, Ala. Another son, Mark A. Sheridan preceded Jimmy in death. He worked at the Montgomery Water Works until his retirement in 1991. Jimmy was enlisted in the United States Air Force with an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Visitation was held at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel Wednesday March 7 from 11:45AM to 12:45 PM followed by a graveside funeral service in Durden Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Pastor Winston Brooks officiating
