Leonard Leroy Allen III

Leonard Leroy Allen III (Roy), born November 13, 1941 in Oxford, FL, passed away on January 7, 2026. He served six years in the Army beginning in February 1962, then worked for Jr. Food Stores and retired from The Pantry food store. Roy met his wife, Christine S Mitchell, while stationed in DC, marrying her on May 1, 1965.

Roy was a devoted loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather (G-Dad, GG-Dad. He will forever be remembered for his extraordinary kindness to his family and friends. His sharp wit not only made you laugh until you cried but also left smiles all around, creating memories that will be treasured and remembered always. He was loved by all that met him.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife Christine Allen and parents Leonard Leroy Allen Jr and Bernice Snowden Allen.

Roy is survived by his children Michelle Shaw, (David), Carole Pigg and Lee Allen. Grandchildren, Wes Allen (Caterina), Travis Cutting (Trish), Trevor Cutting (Avery), Lana Beard (Pat), Cameron Buckland and Luke Allen. Great-grandchildren: Everett, Emma, Travis Jr, Reggie, Reece, Brantley, and Cayden; as well as great-nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Roy Allen's family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Jason, chosen family. Annabelle and Keesha from Gentiva Hospice. You all brought him so much peace and joy.

Per Roy’s wishes, he will be laid to rest back home and with his loving wife in Scotland.

Instead of sending flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Gentiva Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
