

Mae Bell Wingett, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away July 30, 2025. She was preceded in by death her parents A.C. and Merle Bell; brother, Deleon Bell; sister in law Linda Bell. She is survived by her daughters Penny Woronoff (George Snyder) of Mt. Airy, NC, Patricia Gillian (Greg) of Prattville, Al and Kay DeMaria (David) of Mooresville, IN; grandchildren, Jana Scarbrough (Morgan) of Columbus, GA, Shannon Edwards (Tommy Upham) of Mooresville, IN, Austin Gillian (Elissa) of Charleston, SC, Nicholas Woronoff of San Diego, CA, Natalie Herbertz (Michael Janson) of Columbia Falls, MT, Ben DeMaria (Natalie) of Richmond, VA, Samantha DeMaria (Ian McCullough) of Los Angeles CA and Zachery Herbertz of Indianapolis, IN; great grandchildren, Lela Mae, Harry, Nolen and Winn Scarbrough, and Louise Gillian. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry W. Bell of Pahrump, NV. She leaves behind by numerous extended family members and friends.
Mae graduated from St. Margaret’s Hospital School of Nursing, and she also obtained her American Board of Occupational Health Nurse Certification. Two of her favorite places of employment were being a School Nurse with Autauga County Board of Education and as a Camp Nurse at YWCO/Camp Grandview. These kept her close to her girls and offered them experiences that otherwise would not have been afforded them.
Mae was very active with First Baptist Church and was the teacher of The Joy Sunday School class for 10 years. She led the organization of preparing, making the menus and packaging the meals for shut-ins for many years at the Gillespie Center.
A Celebration of life for Mae will Monday, August 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 138 S. Washington St. Prattville at 2:00 PM with the visitation one hour prior.
The family would like to thank Mae’s wonderful caregivers, Valerie Pickett, Cathy Houser, Jennifer Freeman, Lexie Wethington and Brittany Whitmore. They would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Synergy HomeCare.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Prattville Missionary Fund.
