Mary was the daughter of Henry Franklin Goolsby Sr. and Lillie Viona Peoples Goolsby; previously deceased. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Schwalbach; as well as her sisters, Frankie Goolsby, Regina Goolsby, Linda Hull and Jayne Deupree. She is survived by her two children, James Schwalbach (Christine) and Christina Heiert (Chris); five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ethan Schwalbach, Ashtyn Heiert Delagrange (Jack), Holden and Marlowe Heiert; along with three sisters, Barbara Ives, Kay Russell and Mona Reeves; and two brothers Henry and Billy Goolsby.
To know Mary was to know of her deep and abiding love for Christ and her family and friends. She spent most of her time in her kitchen doing what she referred to as her ‘kingdom work’; baking delicious cakes, cookies and pies to gift to friends, neighbors, local firemen, etc. She cherished time spent with her Sunday School class from First Baptist Church Prattville, her dear friends, her beloved sisters and her grandchildren. When not in the kitchen or with loved ones, she could be found enjoying her garden and taking care of the birds. She was dearly loved by many and will be very greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held for Mary on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 9 am at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Memorial Service to follow at 10 am. The family invites friends to fellowship at Ridout's Prattville Chapel after the funeral service. Following fellowship will be a procession to Pine Flat Cemetery in Deatsville, Alabama where a Graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Baptist Church Prattville 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, Alabama 36067 or the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
