Melvin E DeRamus

Melvin Eugene DeRamus, age 96, of Prattville, Alabama passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene DeRamus; his mother, Lorene DeRamus; his wife, Eula “Boots” DeRamus; his son, Randy Chitwood; his daughter, Helen Trott; his grandson, Brandon DeRamus; his sisters, Shelly Ammons and Lou Ellen Webb, his brother, William DeRamus; and his beloved companion, Precious. He is survived by his children, Dianne DeRamus Lolley and Ronald DeRamus; Grandchildren, Amanda Bruner, Dustin Bruner, Katie DeRamus, Jennifer Widen, Cindi Gramatzki, Patrick Lolley, Casey Lolley, and six great grandchildren.

Melvin worked for forty years at Standard Forge and Axle. He later went to work at Kinedyne where he eventually retired. He was an avid bass fisherman and knew where all the best fishing spots were on the Alabama River. He loved baseball and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves. He also loved to watch the Crimson Tide. He loved his family and his family loved him.

A visitation for Melvin will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville Chapel, 347 East Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067. Following the visitation the graveside service at 11:30 AM will take place at Bethesda Baptist church, 1232 County Road 19 N, Independence Community, Prattville, Alabama 36067.
