SHACKELFORD, Sr. Robert H., 92 an Autaugaville resident, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday, October 12) at 11:00 AM at the Autaugaville United Methodist Church with Pastor Henry Golson officiating. Burial will follow Rocky Hill Cemetery according to Ridout’s Prattville Chapel.
Mr. Shackelford was born on July 27, 1918 in Autauga County to the late Robert William and Lena Golson Shackelford. He was a life-long resident of Autauga County and was well known in the farming community for raising cotton and cattle. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nick Shackelford, two sisters, Clare Newby and Virginia Hagood. Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, Mazelle P. Shackelford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Bud Jones, Nancy and James Carter, Johnnie and Trice Nichols; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Anne Shackelford; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Rob Shackelford, John Jones, Dr. Lee Carter, Kyle Carter, Blake Carter, and Shay Nichols. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Autaugaville United Methodist Church P.O. Box 103, Autaugaville, Alabama 36003 or to your favorite charity.
