Shirley was born on November 12, 1938, to the late Charles and Elnora Hurst and was a longtime resident of Prattville, Alabama. She joined Bethesda Baptist Church on March 12, 1950, and remained a devout member throughout her life. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior.
She cherished spending time with family and loved getting to watch it grow. She often expressed how blessed she was to be able to witness it. Shirley was a proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherished by family and friends alike. She was affectionately known simply as "Memaw" to many.
She enjoyed baking sweets, being outdoors, fishing, tending to her flowerbeds and garden, doting on her beloved pit bull terrier “Little Girl” and attending sporting events, and cheering on her grandchildren and, later, her great-grandchildren with unwavering support.
For nearly 45 years, Shirley spent Saturdays in the Fall in Tuscaloosa as a devoted Alabama fan and season ticket holder. She attended countless Alabama football games throughout her life, including numerous bowl games and two national championship victories.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, William Allen Durbin, and her son, Dennis Allen Durbin.
She is survived by her loving children: son Bill Durbin (Cheryl) and daughter Lisa Davis (Kenny); grandchildren Heather Jacks (Eric), Chris Davis, Brooke Devers (Zach), Shanna Sims (Kiley), Mary Beth Fuller (Chris), and Jared Davis; and great-grandchildren: Liam Jacks, Bryce Sims, Will Devers, Brayden Sims, Isabelle Jacks, Adalynn Devers, Eli Fuller, Brennan Sims, and Truett Fuller.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1232 Co Rd 19 N, Prattville, Alabama 36067. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Jared Davis, Kiley Sims, Eric Jacks, Zach Devers, Chris Fuller, and Fletcher Wyatt.
The Family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Eunice Hopson for her love and the exceptional care she provided to Shirley.
