Shirley L Vinson

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Felton Berry Alewine; mother, Ruth Ola Waters Alewine; brother, Ray Alewine; sisters, Dot Palmer, Vivian Smith, Jeanie Wood. She is survived by her husband, Wilton D. Vinson; children, Michael Sheriff (Jamie), Della Lansdell (Jimmy), and Dewayne M. Vinson; grandchildren, Sarah Johnson (Connor), Lauren R. Vinson, Chase M. Vinson, Nick Lansdell (Katie), and Skylar Lansdell (Katie), and 7 great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sisters, Margie Williams and Janie Hammett.

Shirley spent her childhood and early adult life in Anderson, South Carolina. After marrying her husband, the couple moved to Athens, Georgia, lived in Libera, West Africa for 7 years then relocated to the Southeastern US. She raised her family in Los Angeles for 8 years before finding her home in Prattville, Alabama.

She was a devoted housewife, mother and friend. After a dedicated 20 years, Shirley retired from WAL-MART as a 5-star cashier. She enjoyed exploring the cultural diversities she encountered throughout her world-travels. She loved keeping fit by playing tennis and practicing karate. Above all else, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren

A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville Chapel, 347 East Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
