Christine was born on June 16, 1985, in Victoria, BC, to Duncan and Penny Jacob, and grew up mostly in Prince George alongside her parents and older sister, Jodie Stearns. She leaves behind two very special sons – Jacob and Luke – who were the center of her universe. Her strength, courage, and relentless fight were fueled by her love for them.
Among Christine’s most treasured memories were the birthday trips she took with each of her boys, giving them the joy of choosing the destination – whether Italy, West Edmonton Mall, San Diego, Los Angeles, or Long Beach. While she loved the adventure of travel, she equally treasured the simple, everyday moments: snuggling close, talking about life, and sharing activities they loved, from snowmobiling and skiing to fishing. Being their mom was the greatest joy of her life, and she poured her whole heart into creating memories they will carry with them forever.
Drawn to the ocean, adventure, and travel, she was always chasing sunshine - sometimes literally – waking the boys up early to catch a sunrise just because it felt right in the moment. She embraced spontaneity, booking trips on a whim and saying yes to experiences. Christine believed in raising her children to stay wild at heart and was determined never to tame their spirit but instead doing everything she could to protect and nurture it.
As a young adult, Christine spent several years working as a waitress in the service industry. She purchased her first house at the age of 19 and began investing in real estate throughout British Columbia. In 2010, she took the lessons she learned in hospitality - hard work, service, and connection - and applied them to her passion for mortgages, founding the Premium Mortgage Team. In 2020, she co-founded The Collective Mortgage Group, building a team of high performing brokers focused on providing exceptional service. She was widely respected for shaping the mortgage industry through empathy, generosity, and purpose, and was honored with numerous awards, including being named to the Mortgage Global 100 in 2023.
Admired by many, Christine built close lifelong friendships everywhere she went. She was deeply loyal, endlessly generous, and had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. A devoted reader and lifelong learner, she loved gifting books to others - small treasures that reflected her thoughtfulness and care.
Christine was a true light in this world and a one-of-a-kind soul — the kind of person who made everything a little brighter simply by being in the room. Her strength, love, optimism, kindness, and beautiful spirit touched countless lives. Even in the hospital, while fighting for her own life, she was thinking of others — arranging gifts for the nurses and doctors and making sure visitors felt cared for with a snack basket. That was simply who she was. She raised her boys to lead with humility and kindness - a message beautifully reflected in their special song “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw.
She will be missed more than words can express and will be in our hearts forever. While our grief is immense, it brings comfort to know she is no longer suffering, and there is a sense of calm and peace in that.
May the love, strength, and wisdom she poured into Jacob and Luke live on through them always - along with the wild, courageous spirit she so fiercely protected. May they also carry forward her gentle lesson to remain humble and kind.
