On Sunday, June 13, 2021, Chris Bridger, loving husband and amazing dad of two boys, passed away at age 39. Born in Belleville, Illinois on July 18, 1981 to Air Force parents, Chris was able to experience a lot of the world as they lived in several European countries and many states. The family moved to Aurora, Colorado in 1993 where Chris graduated with honors from Smoky Hill High School in 1999. He then went on to receive (again with honors) his BA in Business and Political Science in 2002 from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Chris completed his academic career by earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 2004. Chris went on to serve as an assistant public defender, assistant city attorney and state attorney for Key West, before his most recent position as a district attorney in Anchorage, AK. Chris found satisfaction in helping others and knowing that he was someone people could depend on.
The king of dad jokes, Chris was the ultimate friend, father, and husband. Not one to shy from adventure and dependable as they come, Chris did everything he could to provide all the things his family could have wanted – driven to make those he loved happy. Recalling the early days of having two sons under two years old, Chris was quick to tackle middle of the night duties or changing diapers. He took on the hard jobs when his boys were sick, and gladly napped with them on lunch breaks. As a jack of all trades, Chris willingly cooked and tackled the dreaded school projects with Jack and Ryan. He could be found each August helping Julie set up her classroom and enjoyed indulging his family’s love for rescuing dogs and cats. To know Chris, was to love him. He was clever and witty, generous and helpful. We have all been changed for good, having known and experienced Chris as part of our lives.
Chris is survived by his wife of 12 years, Julie Bridger and their two sons, Jack (12) and
Ryan (10), his parents, parents Vicki (Laur) and Jim Bridger of Jefferson, Colorado and a sister Jenn Bridger of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his beautiful Goddaughter, Bethany Borage, of Macon, Georgia. He will be remembered by many aunts and uncles, cousins, in-laws, a niece and nephew, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, godparents, and an aunt and two uncles. It is our fondest hope, that in passing, Chris has been reunited with his best friend, Jason Borage.
Please join family and friends to share memories, stories and laughter on July 18, from
5:00-8:00 p.m. at Truman Waterfront Park. We will celebrate Chris’ life on this day, his 40th birthday, by enjoying tailgate games and wearing University of Miami colors. Please bring a picture or written memory to leave for his wife and sons and your own seating (chair or blanket).
