AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Esa Pekka (Peter) Peiponen

21 novembre 1950 – 7 décembre 2022
Avis de décès de Esa Pekka (Peter) Peiponen
AUX SOINS DE

Fraserview Crematorium & Fraserview Crematorium – Cemetery Niches

Peter passed away at Prince George Hospice House surrounded by loved ones Dec 7, 2022 after a long illness.

Peter is survived by his beloved sons Ryan and Robert; his furry soulmate Rusty; his best friend Laurie and his sister Ann of Toronto. To Laurie’s children, Matthew (Connie) and Emily (Steph) of Alberta and granddaughters, Huxley and Bronwyn, he is known as their much loved Yeti. A small group of dear friends scattered across the country will remember the many adventures they shared.

He was pre deceased by his father Gabriel Peiponen and his mother Violet Peiponen.

Born in Finland and raised on Lake Ontario, Peter moved to British Columbia in 1976 lured by the wide open skies, sparkling lakes, rivers and mountains. He never looked back. Peter worked in the logging industry in the Mackenzie area for a number of years and since moving to Prince George in the late 1980’s, worked as a loader operator on many gravel crushing crews across British Columbia and Alberta.

He loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Blue Jays, classic cars, arguing sports and politics and, of course, a good hamburger.

It was Peter’s wish that no funeral take place. Water was a predominant theme in Peter’s life. As he often spoke of how much he loved living at the convergence of the Nechako and the mighty Fraser rivers, a gathering for family and friends will take place where the waters meet in Cottonwood Park in the spring of 2023 .

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Maheen Mujtaba, Dr Pascas, Dr Rahul Hampole, Dr Stacey Miller, Dr Mitchell Webb, Dr Ramesh Locanathan, Primary Care team 2, UHNBC Surgery Nursing team, Palliative Care team, and Hospice House team for their care and compassion this last year.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Prince George Hospice House or planting a tree in your yard in memory of Peter.
