With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Eva James, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a true Prince George pioneer at heart. Surrounded by the legacy of her love, she passed away on the morning of August 22, 2025, just shy of her 93rd birthday.
Eva’s story began on the family farm on Cranbrook Hill, where she was born into a large, loving family. A lifelong resident of Prince George, her roots in the community ran deep. She and her siblings, including her identical twin sister Rose, shared lessons in the area’s one-room schoolhouse, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. As young women, Eva and Rose were a familiar sight, working side-by-side at the local Post Office.
Her greatest joy came from the family she built with her husband of 60 years, Alan. After welcoming their two sons, Larry and Randy, she devoted herself to being a mother. Her caring nature extended into the community when she became a teacher's aide at Harwin Elementary School and later at AIMHI, where she touched many young lives. In the 1980s and 90s, she was Alan's steadfast partner in their family convenience stores, a place where her warm smile greeted countless customers and friends.
A woman with a vibrant spirit, Eva had a lifelong love for sports. In her younger days, she was known for her skills in the softball field and bowling alley. For many years, she was a dedicated Cougars season ticket holder, cheering on her home team with passion. Her home in the Southridge Green complex, where she lived for three decades, was a hub of friendship and community.
Eva is now reunited with those who went before her: her beloved husband Alan; her parents Joseph and Eva Russman; and her seven siblings, Mary, Pauline, Kay, Joseph, Emma, Victor and her dear twin, Rose.
Her legacy of love and family strength is carried on by her devoted sons Larry (Tracey) James and Randy (Maureen) James. She was the proudest Grandma to Taylor (Kristjan) Mytting and Jenna (Marcus) James-Ramsay and a delighted Great-Grandma to Sadie and Lyla Mytting. She will also be fondly remembered by the many nieces and nephews she loved so dearly.
Our family extends its deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff and residents of Rodica House, the Prince George Ambulance Service, the compassionate staff at UHNBC and Dr. Nadeem for their exceptional care.
In keeping with Eva's wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, please remember her with a smile, perhaps at the next Cougars game and cherish the memories of a life so fully lived in the community she always called home.
