Carbert (nee Evanchuk), Irene Jean. February 21, 1949 – January 29, 2025. Born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan she moved to Prince George in 1970 after living a couple of years in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who passed away with family by her side at Gateway Lodge, in Prince George, where she resided for the past 8 years. Survived by her husband Lorne, and daughter Trudy (Mike) Baker, her son-in-law Don Riemer, grandchildren Ashley (Arlo), Brettany (Dane), Lexie and Ryan, along with great-grandchildren Jack, Walker, Rose, and Brooks. She is also survived by her sisters Stella Beedle (Randy), Donna Nydegger (Jim) and brother Louis Evanchuk (Kathy). Irene was predeceased by her eldest daughter Louise (Don) Riemer, Parents Harry and Alice Evanchuk, Brothers Bill (Eileen) Evanchuk, and Steve Evanchuk.
Irene worked in healthcare as a nurse’s aide for 45 years (43 at UHNBC) and she loved her job, and the people she worked with very much. Irene was passionate about traveling, music, and dancing - she loved getting together with friends, and hosting parties, until Dementia stole those opportunities away. Irene was a wonderful cook and baker, but unfortunately did not pass many of her recipes on before it was too late. Through her lifetime, she was very fortunate to have travelled to many places, including cruising all over the world. She had an abundance of energy that was never put to waste.
She will be missed by all her family. Special thank you to Gateway Lodge staff, Dr. Boutcher, and Dr. Turski for their exceptional care through the years. No service by request.
