John Edward Shaw

Born September 11, 1947 in Vancouver, BC - Passed August 1, 2025 in Valemount BC at the age of 77.

John leaves his loving wife of 26 years Sherral. He also leaves his sister Sally (Gord), his in-laws Shirley & George, sister-in-law Cindy (Howard). His six children Matthew (Taunya), Mark (Sol), Nadine (Stephen), Nathan (Amanda), Yvonne (Clint), Amanda (Brandon) and his grandchildren Emilia, Addison, Enan, Zoey, Ethan, Riley, Kaimana.

Through his marriage to Sherral, he was blessed with additional family, her children Doug (Janice), Paul (Sherri), Shay (Bo) and grandchildren Shaye, Matthew, Jace, Zakk. He also leaves his honorary daughter Layla, as well three special people in his life Mike, Michele and Lois. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents Douglas & Beverly and his brother-in-law Mike.

John was a brilliant man. Intelligent, as well as eccentric. He was admired for his depth of knowledge and knew something about everything! Passionately sharing his wisdom of his holistic remedies, herbs and healthcare, benefiting many over the years. He was very well respected in the field of alternative healthcare as well as within his community of Valemount.

He also had a great passion for rocks and crystals, considering them sacred energies of the earth. His vast collection far surpassed many and are extraordinary. John was also a collector of “fine discarded treasures,” much to Sherral’s protests over the years! Re-inventing their original state into new and useful purposes that he could use to make jobs easier and more efficient, or simply gifting to another in need.

Through his authenticity, depth of character and resilience, he leaves behind a lasting imprint on the lives of many who had the pleasure of knowing him.

We come to love, not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person in a perfect way. This is where you find real love. Not everyone gets to feel that … the flawed beauty in another. And John was loved with all his perfections as well as his imperfections. He will be dearly missed by so many he touched in his life. Never forgotten, his Light could never dim in the hearts of those who truly knew him. You were so special John, and we draw comfort knowing your soul lives on eternally.
