

Leonard Ongman May 19, 1930 - January 25, 2012 Leonard Ongman passed away Jan. 25, 2012 at the age of 81. He loved and was loved deeply by his wife Marlene and his 7 children Lee Ongman (Joel Schwartz), Larry Ongman (MaryLou Quintana), Lyle Ongman (Betty), Leslie Brochu (Dave), Lance Ongman (Corrine), Laird Ongman (Nicole) and Lorrelle Hall (Lyn), thirteen grandchildren Luke and Layne Ongman, Jonathan Ongman, Erin Norn, Chris and Lindsay Brochu, Jacob Ongman, Martyne Todd, Blair and Ricki Ongman, Sydney and Jordan Hall, and great-grandchildren, Rylee, Madeline, Haydn, Colbie, Cooper, and Oliver, and his very special extended family Emmy and Michael Pinera. Leonard was predeceased by his father John "Ed", mother Svea and brother Lloyd. Leonard was born in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba in 1930 to Svea and John Ongman. In 1942 the family moved to Prince George where his father had obtained work as a carpenter. He was an excellent student and athlete and when graduated he joined his father in the family lumber business, J.E. Ongman & Sons. In 1948 he met Marlene Wall the love of his life and they married in 1950. Leonard was a hardworking man and his greatest joy was his family. Friends, family and acquaintances were drawn to his character, quick wit, charm and generous nature. He was a pillar of strength and he and Marlene constantly opened their home to family and friends who needed a hand up. After all "What was one more??" A Celebration of Leonard's life will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church, 483 Gillett Street. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of ICU, IMU and FMU. We are sincerely grateful for the professional care and compassionate assistance of Drs. Sidorov.
