Mom was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1993 and her son John McCormick in 2015. Mom leaves to mourn her daughter’s Pat (Rick), Lou (Wayne) and Sheila (Tom); grandchildren Dave, Wes, Doug (Carmen), Sam (Tasha), Luke (Kim) and Meghan; great grandchildren Anna, Barret, Holly and Bradley.
Mom was born in Arvida Quebec June 29, 1930, was the daughter of the late Donald Boddy and Marie Goudreau. She was an avid athlete growing up playing tennis and participated in track and field sports. Mom married her husband Walter McCormick in 1952. Walter was employed with Anglo Pulp and Paper. They lived in Quebec City until moving to Prince George BC in 1966 when dad was transferred to work at Prince George Pulp and Paper. Mom loved Prince George. Mom worked for Ben Ginter Construction and her last employment was with the School District 57 in her role as executive secretary to the school superintendent until she retired.
Mom and dad both enjoyed golfing and they played many a good golf game travelling lots to play. When dad passed away mom continued to keep herself busy playing golf from sunrise to sunset. Mom was also a top-notch bowler and her and her daughter Sheila won many awards and bowled together for many years.
As time went on in mom’s later years she enjoyed summer times at Ness Lake with her family. There were boat rides, card games, campfires and family times. Outings to Quesnel Lake to go fishing with her son John and family which she so much enjoyed.
Mom always kept herself busy however when she could no longer physically participate in doing sports she was glued to the tv when golf, tennis, and hockey were on.
Mom also loved to play cards 31 and poker and we all learned to play with her. Card games at mom’s were a big event. Mom was most competitive and a no-nonsense player when playing. Many a family member was reprimanded for being silly and not focusing on the game at hand.
Mom’s health issues became a concern, and she moved into Rainbow Care and spent the last 5 years as a resident there.
We as a family were so fortunate to have had mom for so many years. Mom’s wit and humor stayed with her until the end. Mom was truly an inspiration to live life by and loved her family dearly. We will miss her so much. Mom was so much loved by all of us.
A Celebration of Live to be arranged for mom in the warmer months.
A special thank you to Laura, Julie, Jennifer and all the staff at Rainbow Care for making mom’s stay and last days as good as possible.
Thank you to Dr. Hillhouse for looking after mom and Father Ken for being there for mom in her last days.
