AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Murray William Evaschuk

29 avril 1943 – 21 mars 2023
Avis de décès de Murray William Evaschuk
AUX SOINS DE

Assman's Funeral Chapel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Murray William Evaschuk on March 21, 2023 at the age of 79 after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret just 8 months previous and he missed her terribly. We are comforted knowing they are together again for eternity.

Murray was born in Hamilton, Ontario on April 29, 1943, the only child to William Evaschuk and Frances Nebozenko. He grew up in Toronto and met Margaret at the age of 17 through mutual friends. They married in 1966 and had two children whom they raised in Bolton, Ontario where they built their home in 1972.

Murray worked for the Toronto Fire Department for 32 years and absolutely loved his job. He quickly advanced through the ranks to become a Captain, Chief and then finally a District Chief when he retired in 1997.

In 2002 they moved to Adams Lake, BC where they enjoyed travelling the world and hosting friends and family at their lake house. Murray loved to fish and could often be found out on the water catching dinner. He was also very active in the Astronomy and Naturalists Clubs in Kamloops and enjoyed teaching all those who would listen to him talk about black holes or how many light years away it is to various planets and galaxies. His love for microbiology was unsurpassed and he acquired a collection of microscopes that he took great pleasure in showing to anyone interested in microorganisms he collected from nature.

His quirky ways, famous quotes and storytelling abilities will always be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Murray was extremely proud of his family and will be sadly missed by his son Brad, daughter Dana, son-in-law Rick, and grandchildren Jack, Harlee, Jasper, Merrill and Koda.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society is greatly appreciated.
