Nick is survived by his brothers George Moukas and Kosta Moukas along with their families, and numerous relatives in Greece as well as his nephews Theo Kammenos and Andreas Kammenos and their families in Canada.
Nick’s Odyssey started at the young age of 17, when he ventured off to Germany and worked at a weapons factory where he assembled Mauser handguns. A year later, Nick’s nomadic spirit led him all the way to Whitehorse, joining his older brother, George. With his assistance, Nick attended welding school in Calgary and began a long career as a skilled welder in the oil patch of Fort McMurray.
His quiet determination inspired him to follow his own unique path, and he had many adventures during his extensive travels, including in Toronto and Vancouver. Although a man of few words, Nick spoke three languages: Greek, German and English. After some time, he eventually made his home base Prince George, reconnecting with his sister and brother and their families.
He enjoyed swimming, especially in all the oceans he visited. Nick embraced the Canadian pastime of watching hockey. He liked shooting pool, loved a strong Greek coffee, and had a way of finding a competitive game of cards to join no matter where he traveled.
From cafes to billiard rooms, his charming smile, twinkling eyes, shy giggle, and infectious laugh won many friends and broke many hearts from one coast to the other.
Nick lived life on his own terms with authenticity and passion. He is dearly missed.
Always in our hearts.
