Rev. Dr. Robert James Paxton Reid

Bob was born near Hamilton, Ontario to William and Susan Reid. He grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario until he finished high school. He got his undergraduate degree at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills Alberta and then he volunteered at a Canadian Sunday School Mission Bible camp near Thunder Bay, Ontario. There he met and later married Ruth Rothenberg.

In 1965, Bob, Ruth, and daughter Marilyn moved to India and over time two more children, Stephen and Karen joined the family. In India, Bob pastored several churches and after 37 years of service, Bob and Ruth retired from India. After living in Niagara Falls, Ontario for a few years, in 2004, they moved again to settle in Prince George, BC in order to be near family. A couple of years later, they joined College Heights Baptist Church where Bob led Bible studies and was given the title “Pastor Emeritus”. While Bob lived in Canada for the past 2 decades, his heart was in both Canada and India.

Bob’s Celebration of Life took place on November 1, 2025 at College Heights Baptist Church, and was livestreamed so that friends and family from near and far could join.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Ruth, daughters Marilyn Trepus (Paul), Karen Chupa (Myles) and son Stephen Reid. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Julienne, Aaron, Sarah, Izzy and Tilly. He was also proud of his great grandchildren, Alder, Linden, Amy and Alice and one great grandchild who he was not able to meet yet. He is also survived by his brother David (Anne) and by Lillian (wife of his late brother Don).
