Vera Dekleva

Vera Dekleva from Prince George, B.C., passed away at the age of 89 years old on December 11, 2023. Vera built her life with her husband Augustin in 1957 when they immigrated to Canada from Slovenia. Together they had 3 beautiful children: Jadran Dekleva (wife Anita, Erin and Jason), Lorin Dehod (husband Shane), and Anita Nilson (Shayleen and Kassandra). Vera was dedicated to her family, loved her grandchildren and she had a special place in her heart for each and everyone of her grandchildren. Recently, she met her Great Grandchildren: Corbin and Jason Jr. she was thrilled with them and they were so sweet with her. Vera was predeceased by her husband Augustin, parents Marija and Frane, her sister Pavla, and grandchild Chris, and Son-in-Law Shane.

Vera was known for her Slovenian baking, backyard BBQ’s, had an amazing green thumb when it came to her garden which were full of all sorts of vegetables and array of flowers around the house. Her greatest joy was to go back to Slovenia with her family to visit her brother, aunts and uncles. When Vera was not working at her job, taking care of family or not attending to her garden she spent her time doing all sorts of crafty things and enjoying the company of her close friends.

Vera will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who new her. We love you and miss you Mom !!! Thank you for being a Wife, Mom, Sister, Grandmother and Friends to many. Forever in our Hearts, Počivaj v miru (Rest in Peace)…you are in God’s hands now. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

Prayers and visitation will be held at Assman’s Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 1:30 pm. Funeral Mass (also be streaming live) will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral followed by a Cemetery burial.
