Wilma Hamilton, 93, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 9, 2024. She joins her loving husband, William (Gavin) Hamilton, who passed June 20, 2018. Wilma is survived by her three sons, Geoff (Cynthia), Murray (Patricia), Scott (Pat), ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with her siblings, Darlene (Clarence, deceased), Bill (Dorathy).
Wilma was born on June 22nd, 1930, to George and Helen Pfeifer, in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of four siblings, Earl (deceased), Darlene, and Bill.
Wilma completed grade and high school in Rosetown. She attended Secretarial school in Saskatoon, where she met Gavin. They were married Oct 3, 1954, they had three boys, Geoff, Murray, and Scott.
The couple started married life on the Hamilton farm near Mazenod, Saskatchewan. Soon after, Gavin joined Imperial Oil, which led to multiple moves within Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC. During this time, Wilma concentrated on raising the family and working tirelessly for numerous charities. She was a fantastic and loving mother, forever thoughtful, caring, and supportive. She was also an excellent cook and famous for her family Sunday dinners, where her roast beef and Yorkshire pudding delighted all who could attend.
Upon retirement Gavin and Wilma moved to Kelowna, where all family members enjoyed their visits. With Gavin’s health declining, a move was made to Prince George to be closer to family. Shortly after Gavin’s passing, Wilma moved to Simon Fraser Lodge. Special thanks and gratitude to Scott and his family, and to the Lodge staff who cared for Wilma to her passing.
Two days prior to her passing, she was in the company of her three sons, Scott, Pat, grand children, Samantha and Sean, plus her first great grandchild, Enwyn. It was an incredibly special weekend for all.
We will miss her and remember her always for the wonderful and caring person she was.
There will be no funeral service, rather the family is planning a private celebration of life later in the year. In lieu of flowers, please donate to support Diabetes Canada.
